Suspected herdsmen operating in horrendous manners in Ubulu-Unor community, Aniocha South local government area of Delta State, yesterday allegedly shot and injured two farmers on their way to their farmlands.
Reports said the suspected herdsmen ambushed the unsuspecting farmers (names withheld) few metres to their farm lands and they were allegedly injured by the gun shot.
Policemen at the Ubulu-Uku Police Division who did not want their names in print confirmed that the victims were seriously injured after they were allegedly shot by the suspected herdsmen and were rushed to the General Hospital in Ubulu-Uku where they are currently receiving treatment for gunshot injuries.
But the state police commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim in a swift reaction, said the police were mobilised to search every nooksand cranny and fish out the suspects.
While assuring Deltans that there will be no hiding place for criminals, the police boss called on them to always provide the police with useful information that will lead to the arrest of criminals in their hideouts.
Meanwhile, fear of the unknown has gripped residents of Ubulu-Uku and Ubulu-Unor over what they described as possible renewed moves by suspected herdsmen to launch fresh attacks on them.
Mr. Innocent Osakwe, a native of Ubulu-Unor who spoke to our reporter, however called on the security agents to redouble their efforts with a view to ensuring the suspects are fished out.
