Nwakaeme may be invited to join Super Eagles

The forward continued his fine form as his goals in his last four games sent the Israeli champions into the last four of the league cup.

Anthony Nwakaeme scored two goals to fire Hapoel Be’er Sheva past Maccabi Haifa in a Toto Cup quarter-final encounter on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old, who has been in tremendous form for Bachar Barak’s side put the Camels ahead with two quickfire goals coming within the space of one minute. He scored the opener in the 77th minute, completing his brace against Rene Meulensteen’s men in the next.

Although the Yaakov Turner Toto Stadium outfit were pegged back by a late Nikita Rukavytsya effort from the spot, they held firm for a 2-1 victory.

The result sees them progress to the semifinals of the Israeli top two divisions’ cup with a 4-3 aggregate win as the reverse fixture at the Sammy Ofer Stadium ended in a 2-2 draw.

Nwakaeme’s ten goals in all competition for the Israeli champions has surely done his aspiration to feature in Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles more good.
